Beyond product design

This article quotes Donald Norman emphasizing an obvious but often overlooked point about user experience: What is important is not an individual product, software or device itself, but the overall experience - everything from related services, confirmation emails, customer service, to what Jakob Nielsen calls enterprise usability.

In practice, we as designers too often see just the product itself. This perspective is too narrow, as it may fall upon the designers to keep in mind the big picture, in the push and pull of a compartmentalized corporate culture.

The article, while nothing spectacular, is a quick read - and the issue itself is infinitely relevant.

Linja Design launches innovative S60 calculator

We at Linja Design have released an innovative, faster-to-use S60 calculator.

From the website: "The Linja Series 60 calculator was designed and developed by those at Linja Design alongside their technology partners, BJIT Group.

With a clean and easy to use interface, the Linja S60 calculator can prove to be a better solution when calculating simple equations on your mobile phone. Instead of clicking multiple times to get to a basic math function such as with the default Nokia S60 calculator, the addition, divide, multiply and subtract functions are dedicated onto the up, down, left and right areas of the rocker key. Thus, making calculations quicker and easier to do."
