Not exactly UI-related, but fascinating nevertheless. Zero Ink technology promises to provide small-scale printers that do not require any ink (just special paper). A video demonstration is also available.

HTC's Horace Luke demoes the user experience on their upcoming Diamond Touch mobile phone. Impressive.

Speaking of Aza Raskin and Humanized, take a look at Enso, their productivity application, if you haven't already. Not exactly new, but still as relevant as it has ever been.
Aza Raskin, the head of UX at Mozilla and founder of Humanized (and son of legendary UX pioneer Jef Raskin, whose book The Humane Interface is an essential read for all UX enthusiasts) demoes some potential UI design concepts for the upcoming Firefox mobile browser. Highly recommended.

Mary J Foley, long-time Microsoft follower Paul Thurrott, and host Leo Laporte's podcast on how Microsoft "plans to stay relevant in the post-Gates era." Microsoft-specific, but there are lots of interesting thoughts on the future of the industry, especially cloud computing.

The Eee PC has been a raging success so far, and has just landed in Finland. It also features a unique user interface; a YouTube video is featured behind the link.

Not new, but a project worth keeping an eye on.

A look at Adobe's upcoming UI, provided by Adobe Labs. Fireworks and Dreamweaver are beta downloads, so you can try them at home, too.

So the other day we had a discussion during lunch about choice overload. I was trying to recall this article I had read about the issue, but couldn't recall the exact statistics. Found the link from my archives, so I thought I'd post it here!
Of course, this study merely illustrates one side of story. Choice is not a bad thing, but too much of it might actually do a product, system, or design more harm than good. In this feature-driven field, It's a good reminder if nothing more.
Not new, but still relevant: Johnny Chung Lee's experiments with the Wii.

Just posting this here in case somebody didn't know Apple offers the WWDC keynote event as a video.
Definitely worth a watch, even though it clocks at about two hours. QuickTime required.

An interesting conceptual music player UI for touchscreens.

So you've probably heard and even tried the new Office 2007 UI, nicknamed the Ribbon. Here's the backstory of how the Ribbon came to be, along with insight into the design approaches and various prototypes, presented by lead designer Jensen Harris himself.

This comes a little late, but here's the link to Google's Android demo. Definitely worth a look.
